Welcome to the Grade School program at Bright Beginnings Early Learning Center. We are proud of our Preschool and Grade School room, and the fine care that each child entrusted to our program receives.
Program Goals
Commitment to Program/Environment: At Bright Beginnings we provide a clean, safe and secure environment offering children enjoyable, hands-on activities designed to encourage exploration and growth while building self-esteem. Children have plenty of time to have fun and learn new things. Bright Beginnings focuses on helping young children enhance their gross and fine motor skills and use all senses in learning. This can be achieved by scheduling time for active play, project and circle time as well as free play every day, using a variety of materials and equipment that require children to use their new motor skills. At Bright Beginnings, our classrooms are organized to maintain a clean, colorful, organized, child-sized and safe environment giving children a sense of trust and belonging. Centers are structured to allow for group spaces, as well as quiet, "on-your-own" spaces.
Commitment to Our Teachers: At Bright Beginnings we look for teachers who are experienced in early childhood development and education, who enjoy and understand how young children learn and grow. Our teachers model and communicate to children the appropriate ways to express themselves and interact and problem solve. Our teachers are committed to offering children a multi-cultural learning experience where each person is respected and valued. They ensure that all children enjoy their time spent with us, developing friendships, fine tuning social skills, learning from our activities, and most importantly, having fun!
Commitment to the Children: At Bright Beginnings we help children become active explorers and self-confident, independent and enthusiastic learners by stressing the process of learning and discovery through developmentally appropriate activities in a safe, secure environment. Children are also encouraged to make decisions, cooperate, take turns with others, practice listening, explore their environment and express, understand and handle their feelings.
Commitment to Parent Involvement: At Bright Beginnings we believe that daily communication with parents is very important. At the beginning and end of each day our parents receive verbal highlights of their child's day. Parents are welcome at any time to observe, have lunch, or just stop by for a hug. Everyone benefits through this interaction. You will find our teachers to be supportive of parents, and encourage parent involvement. Please feel comfortable at any time to share information with our teachers about your child's development, or any concerns you may have. We welcome suggestions on how we can better care for your child. We strive for consistency between Child Care and Home Care practices, and follow through on all parent requests.
The Curriculum
Bright Beginnings curriculum offers a variety of attractive and stimulating activities. We have weekly themes that keep us learning new things. Included in our day are project time, circle time and learning centers. These activities promote and encourage independence, cooperation, and decision making, as well as making your child's day fun. The learning centers typically include space for the following activities:
- Science
- Blocks
- Library
- House Corner
- Music & Movement
- Table Toys
- Outdoors
- Art
- Computers
- Sand & Water
- Gross Motor
Field Trips
At Bright Beginnings we provide several well-supervised field trips throughout the year. We visit places such as libraries, parks, museums and the zoo and we try to tie them into our themes for the month. This allows children to get out and experience what it is they are learning about.
Outdoor Play
At Bright Beginnings we have a special play yard just for our preschoolers and grade schoolers. This is equipped with age appropriate climbers, slides, swings, and ride-on toys that will enhance your child's large motor development, and provide for many fun hours of outdoor explorations. We understand how important it is for children to get outdoors and play, therefore we take advantage of the time we get outside.
